Hosts Navelim Sporting Club booked their place in the final of the 44th Gold Silver Rolling Trophy Football Tournament with a dramatic 6-5 win in a penalty shootout against Don Bosco Oratory Fatorda at the Rosary Church Ground, Navelim on Saturday.
The match began on an electric note as Travis Souza gave Navelim the lead in the very first minute. Don Bosco Fatorda regrouped and equalised in the 32nd minute through Hanshlum Furtado, making it 1-1 — a scoreline that remained unchanged till the final whistle despite both sides playing spirited football.
In the tense tiebreaker, Noah Luis, Sweden Costa, Mohammad Gundar, Sam Pereira, and Sherlock Dias converted for Navelim, while Francisco Andrade, Hanshlum Furtado, Milson Barreto, and Alfred Noronha scored for Don Bosco Fatorda.
Travis Souza was adjudged Man of the Match, and received his award from Gabriel Fernandes.
Navelim Sporting will now face Sao Jose de Areal in the final on October 2.
