MARGAO: United Boys of Ambaulim edged past Navelim Villagers Union 6-5 in a thrilling tiebreaker to secure a spot in the quarterfinals of the Wilred Leisure Football Tournament at Dysa Ground, Curtorim, on Monday.
The match ended 1-1 in regular time, with Jaison Dias opening the scoring in the 9th minute, before Meliston Dias equalized in the 30th minute.
In the penalty shootout, United Boys Ambaulim converted five spot-kicks through Dailon Carvalho, Visiton Fernandes, Cyril Dias, Selfon Fernandes and Leedon Fernandes, while Navelim scored through Clinton Niasso, Richard Costa, Ronaldo Pereira and Maevan Fonceca.
Jaison Dias was named Man of the Match, presented by James Vaz.
