MARGAO: A brilliant hat-trick by Venicio Fernandes powered Salcete Football Club to a commanding 5-0 victory over Raia Football Club in the Division II South Goa playoffs at the Sinquetim Sports Complex, Navelim, on Monday.
Salcete dominated proceedings from the outset, with a compact formation that provided defensive stability while allowing quick counter-attacks to exploit Raia’s gaps. Their well-organized backline kept Raia’s attacking threats under control, frustrating the visitors throughout the first half.
Apart from Fernandes’ hat-trick, Freanoy Rocha and Valinken Carvalho also found the net, completing a comprehensive victory for Salcete Football Club.
