Putting the onus on the Communidade of Sirsaim, the sarpanch said if no development took place in Sirsaim, it was only because of the non-cooperation of the comunidade.
“Sirsaim Comunidade has refused to cooperate with the panchayat and provide land for projects which the government has passed,” said Anand Temkar, Sirsaim Sarpanch at the gram sabha on Sunday.
He was replying to Shridhar Kamat’s query as to why no major development projects were brought by the Sirsaim Panchayat.
“The government had passed Rs 1.8 crore tourism project near the Konshi spring in Sirsaim. All plans were approved, but the project got stuck only because the comunidade refused to part with land,” the sarpanch disclosed.
The sarpanch further revealed that plans were also afoot to develop the Sirsiam ground and a joggers trek in Sirsaim, but that too has been stalled because the comunidade refused to provide the NOC.
The gram sabha members unanimously opposed a request to start a crusher unit in Konshi in Sirsaim. When the sarpanch placed before the gram sabha the request received by the panchayat for setting up of a crusher, most members were of the opinion that no permission should be issued for it.
Another member, Vidhyadhar Bhagat, questioned the sarpanch on the method adopted to trim overgrown bushes in the panchayat area. The sarpanch said the bush cutting task was entrusted to the respective ward members.
Seven panch members were present for the gram sabha from the nine-member Sirsiam Panchayat. Maria D’Souza and Laxmikant Parab were not present.
Secretary Keshav Phadte and observer Vidhyadhar Salgaonkar were present for the meeting.
