The Makara Sankranti festival has caused direct impact on the prices of vegetables that have shot up since last couple of days.
A variety of vegetables are used by the Hindus to prepare ‘Bhogi Bhakari,’ a traditional roti which is served during the two days of Makara Sankranti festival, especially the capsicum, ladyfinger, gavar and other vegetables too have gone up due to rising demand in Sankranti.
Prices of louki, raddish, tinldi and a few other vegetables including leafy vegetables have either marginally increased or have remained stable.
Meanwhile, elections to the Agriculture Produce Market Committee (APMC), the body that controls the wholesale vegetable, grains and pulses market, were held on Friday and the results are expected on Saturday.
