With a target of creating around 9,000 jobs in 46 proposals cleared by Goan investment regulator, Investment Promotion Board (IPB), Industries Minister Mahadev Naik kickstarted the initiative of visiting various industries, MRF and Nestle India at Tisk-Usgao being the maiden companies.
Shiroda MLA Naik said that IPB will be a catalyst for employment generation and assured a massive 80 per cent job allocation to Goans i.e out of the approximately 8,800, 7,040 prospective employees will hail from the state.
"These 46 proposals which are cleared by the IPB will create 8,800 jobs, and will bring in rupees 3,722 crore worth investment."
"To achieve our aim we have also decided to ask all companies to give 80 per cent jobs to Goans. Wherever we will visit, we will tell them to follow the industrial rules," Naik said.
According to him many of the existing industrial units have begun with the expansion process with IPB's blessing.
He further informed, that he will also visit other industrial estates from where they (IPB) have received proposals from various companies.
“MRF is coming up with an expansion plant, which will make production of 6 lakh tyres a month and locals youth is expected to get jobs here,” Naik informed.
He also informed that his government will take care of the fact that youth from vivid streams get jobs under the industrial policy.
