The team is a regular in the 2nd division and hasbeen a solid performer despite challenges like a paucity of funds. Last yearthe team lost in the final match that would have guaranteed them a place in thefirst division. The team has given Indianfootball, players like Romeo Fernandes and Abu who have gone on to play for thenational team as well as other local professional teams. Young talented player spotted by the teamare immediately poached by the professional clubs in the state which make lifevery difficult as they try to build a team that will stay with them.
The driving force
The management of the team is motivated by the need to surviveevery year and provide a platform for young talented players. In 1972 when thesports club was launched by Aquino Henriques, the motivation was to provide aplatform and the present management team lead by Lawrence Gomes and six other members is focused onthis task however difficult it may seem.
