Fatorda independent legislator Vijai Sardesai defended his decision to sell a plot to an outside buyer saying that it wasn’t an agricultural plot that he was selling and that the process was completely legal.

Asked at a press conference, whether his selling a developed plot to an outside buyer was in conflict with his stand that it was in fact the government that was selling Goa to outsiders, Vijai said that the two issues were different.

“Our demand was the prevention of the sale of agricultural land to outsiders. I have not sold agricultural land. Such a sale cannot be stopped. It is like selling a flat,” Sardesai told the press conference.

Earlier Sardesai along with Rohan Khaunte and Naresh Sawal accused the government of selling off Goa like a “Flipkart sale” during its last year in power.

“If one goes by the kind of laws passed by this government, it appears that the government is out to make the most of its last year in power. Just as Flipkart offers huge discounts for a limited period. The government is selling off Goa in its last year limited time in office,” Sardesai said. “This is environmental terrorism coupled with economic terrorism,” Sardesai added.
