Don Bosco Oratory, Fatorda got the better of Navelim Villagers Union 6-5 via tiebreaker to storm into the final of All Goa Legend Catao Fernandes memorial inter village football tournament organised by Union of Chinchinim Villagers at Church ground, Chinchinim on Saturday. Both the teams were tied 2-2 at full time.
In a match that saw plenty of end to end action, both the teams had equal number of scoring chances but their forwards squandered from good positions. Navelim Villagers spurned good chances in the opening session with striker Jaison Pereira alone muffing two sitters. At the other end, Don Bosco's Francis Andrade found the crossbar through a carpet drive to the dismay of Fatorda supporters.
Post resumption, Navelim Villagers began on a positive note and took the lead in the 35th minute through Jaison Pereira, who slotted past the rival goalkeeper with a snap shot. Spurred by the success, Navelim intensified their attacks and pushed their opponents on the back foot. Sukhdev Arwade doubled the lead in the 53rd minute when he placed the ball to the far corner of the nets. Don Bosco then had many forays into the rival penalty area and in the 62nd minute, Roque Borges reduced the deficit with a stiff grounder. Three minutes later, Roque struck again to restore the parity when he placed the ball to the far corner of the nets.
In the penalty shootout, Francis Andrade, Roque Borges, Ashley Arujao and Blinton Baretto found the mark for Don Bosco Oratory while Jaison Pereira, Naveen Pereira and Joseph Dias converted for Navelim Villagers Union.
