Goa’s Women Grand Master and Goa Carbon Brand Ambassador Bhakti Kulkarni(2256) scored eight points and finished 4th in the RamRatan Women Chess Challenger 2015 which concluded at Bahinder, Thane Saturday.
In the concluding round, she could not hold 2nd seeded WGM Soumya Swaminathan (2363) of PSB to get the medal but managed to qualify for National Premier.
On 4th board, Goa’s WIM Ivana Furtado lost to WFM Varshini V of TN in the final round and remained on seven points. She came 15th and lost the chance to get qualified for the National Premier, after she had managed to seal a place last year.
The 7th seeded WFM Vaishali R won a gold medal with nine points (TB-74). WGM Soumya Swaminathan (TB 71.5) and IM Tania Sachdev (TB 70.5) also scored nine points and secured silver and bronze medal on tie-breaker.
Nandini Saripalli scored six points and stood 42nd as she won against Aditi Arya of Bihar. Swera Brganca remained on 5 paints as she lost against Makhija Ashra. Faizia Khan scored 5 points after winning against Jayashree Sankpal. Sakhsi Naik finished with 4.5 points as she drew with Akshita Goud Pally in concluding round.
