MARGAO
While many a sarpanch have managed to retain their seats along the coastal belt, the voting trend indicates that a number of sitting sarpanchas and panchas have been shown the door by the voters this time round. In coastal Benaulim, sarpanch Remy Fernandes retained his seat with a thin margin, while his Colva counterpart Menino Fernandes also emerged victorious with a comfortable margin. Seraulim sarpanch Leslie Dourado and Joseph Vaz (Rachol) have retained their seats. Sitting Paroda sarpanch Deepak Kharangate retained his seat, even as his panel swept the election this time round.
