Goa Yuva Mohotsav is a multi-disciplinary competition organised by the Konkani Bhasha Mandal, Goa annually to felicitate and make the youth of today aware of the rich Goan culture .
The competition was started way back in 1995 with very few cultural groups and educational institutions participating. It is currently in its 24th year of organising. But over the years the contest has gained massive public interest and a variety of organisations can be seen participating
with lot of enthusiasm and eventually rising as the winners. The event is carried out in a span of 2 days. One can find people from every part of the State competing as well as being a part of the audience.
The contest is divided into two categories, cultural groups and educational institutions respectively. Drama, street play, folk dance, western dance, solo singing, trio, short film, jugalbandi, live painting are some of the examples of the competitions hosted. A grand trophy and cash prizes are awarded to the winners.
But there’s more than just winning. Yuva Mohotsav has made people realise their real capacity and talent which has resulted in helping them create successful careers and sustaining their livelihood. Lot of great Goan personalities have been benefited by this event. There is no doubt people have excelled in cultural activities but also qualities which are crucial for a person in life such as leadership, teamwork, unity are inhabited by people through the event.
There are occasions in which life partners have ended up meeting up each other and eventually later settled together in life. The energy of the competition is just beyond the sky. Yuva Mohotsav is just more than a competition, it is a some kind of a emotion, it’s a way of life!
