In a recent master class on ‘IPO Awareness, Working Capital Management, and Best Practices for Businesses,’ chartered accountant Santosh Kenkre, former chairman of EDC Limited and the Indo-American Chamber of Commerce, discussed Initial Public Offerings (IPOs) on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and National Stock Exchange (NSE). Organised by the Startup and IT Promotion Cell at Goa's ITE&C department, Kenkre explained that IPOs involve offering shares of a private corporation to the public, unlocking the company’s value. He highlighted benefits such as raising capital and boosting a company’s public profile.
Kenkre emphasised the importance of IPOs for growth and expansion, advising companies on managing stocks and inventories to avoid interest, liquidity issues, and spoilage. He shared the mantra, “Use the optimum credit period of suppliers but don’t squeeze,” stressing the significance of working capital in daily operations.
