MES College of Arts and Commerce, Zuarinagar-Vasco, in collaboration with South Korean-based International NGO ‘ASEZ’ (Save Earth from A to Z) recently organized a seminar in the M S Kamat College Seminar Hall. The theme of the seminar was ‘Environmental Protection and Crime Reduction’. The seminar was aimed at sensitizing the people around the world, especially the younger generation about the major environmental concerns in the world like global warming, water crisis, deforestation and pollution. The second major theme was ‘Reduction of Crime’ that occurs as a result of severe Human Rights violations in the world because of religion, ethnicity and socio-economic indicators.The seminar was well attended by the students of the Departments of Political Science and Sociology of MES College and the member students of ASEZ from India as well as South Korea. In his welcome address, Dr R B Patil, Principal of MES College, welcomed the gathering and underscored the alarming issues of the world which require urgent attention at the international level. He also thanked the ASEZ for showing concern in this field.Assistant Professor Dattaprasad Shirgurkar, the Coordinator of the seminar proposed the vote of thanks wherein he reiterated that the world has become a global village requiring that the students across the borders need to come together for a common global cause. The seminar was also attended by the Head of Department Dr. Sonal Thakker and lecturers from the Department of Sociology, Assistant Prof. Raisa Cardozo and Elizabeth Bara and the Head of the Department of Political Science Prof. Ashok Sambargi.
