It has been almost a year since the road leading to the Siolim bridge in Chopdem was renovated and decked with a beautiful roundabout and with what looks to be a broad road for smooth traffic movement.
But since the completion of the beautification project, which started off with great pomp and show under the guidance of then CM Laxmikant Parsekar, the job doesn't look to have been professionally done.
The condition of the stretch of road after the bridge leading to Agarwaddo is so bad that one can say that the work is still under progress.
Dotted with potholes and badly placed speed breakers, there is hardly any space for a smooth commute. Both sides of the road are practically divided in half - vehicles can travel only on the section close to the divider as the rest of the road is too bad to be utilised by motorists.
It compels one to think what the administration is up to? Isn't this visible to them? It was a great idea to widen the road but what's the point when you can't even use it with ease. The monsoon only served to worsen the condition of an already bad road although this could have been easily managed if the broadened section had been properly done up.
Are the authorities waiting for something really bizarre to take place? It is clearly evident the problem was solvable if the administration had paid heed to it.
