Goan badminton player Anjana Kumari has been selected for Indian SGFI team during a selection trial held at Agra, Uttar Pradesh recently by SGFI for the upcoming World School Championship (WSC) 2018 in under-18 category in badminton.
International School Federation (ISF) & School Games Federation of India (SGFI) in collaboration with government of Maharashtra is going to host ISF World School U-18 Badminton Championship in Pune from April 19-25.
In the selection trial, 32 players from both junior age groups from boys and girls category, who had reached upto pre-quarterfinal stage in SGFI Nationals held earlier this year were invited. From the 32 players each from boys and girls category, the teams have been selected and called for the camp to be held at SAI Centre, Aurangabad, Maharashtra for WSC. The Indian team will leave to participate in ISF-WSC directly from Aurangabad to Pune, where this event is scheduled to be held at Shiv Chhattrapati Balewadi Sports Complex.
Anjana got the message of her selection for the Indian team telephonically from SGFI officials. She will join the camp by Tuesday. Anjana Kumari is the first player from Goa, who has got the opportunity to represent the Indian SGFI team at World School Badminton Championship and is very excited for the championship and ready to give her best.
