A number of passengers were stranded at Dabolim International Airport after Indigo Airlines cancelled the Goa-Hubli flight at the last moment on Thursday.

According to an aggrieved passenger, the Indigo Goa-Hubli flight 6E 7998 with about 37 passengers was to depart from Goa on Thursday at 7 pm.

“We had booked our tickets and also ensured that we reach the airport on time. However to our surprise, after we finished all our checks and formalities at the airport, authorities cancelled the flight just half an hour before departure.”

“We questioned the staff over their sudden and unexpected decision but they refused to reply to us and just maintained that there was a technical issue.”

“We have further works and were in a hurry to reach Hubli, which is why we booked the air tickets. But we are surprised with such attitude of the airlines operator,” said the unhappy passenger.

“Ideally as per rules and regulations, the airlines is supposed to inform passengers a minimum of four hours prior to departure about any changes in the flight schedule, but they have not stuck to their rules.”

“They have cancelled the flight at the last moment leaving us with no alternate chances as we were 37 passengers. Initially, we were told that they were not in a position to book any alternative arrangements or a different flight.”

The passenger said they made a noise and the airlines later agreed to transport them by bus to Hubli.

“We have no option but to agree to the bus trip as we are in a hurry to reach Hubli. This is a pathetic attitude by the airline operator. We feel that since we were few passengers, they may have cancelled the flight at the last moment as according to calculations if they don’t have a minimum of 72 passengers, the flight operation is not viable,” the passenger added.

When contacted, a staff of Indigo Airlines at Dabolim Airport agreed that the Goa-Hubli flight was cancelled due to “operational reasons” and said the passengers were given road transfer to Hubli.
