The issue of garbage disposal has been plaguing the state for a long time now and there seems to be no solution in sight. There are designated spots in every city and village in the state where garbage bins are placed and the citizens are expected to place the garbage in these bins. However one of the problems is that these garbage bins are usually found overflowing with trash strewn all over the place even as stray cattle and dogs feast on it. What is necessary is the timely collection of garbage from designated spots by the civic body or the panchayat. However it is observed that at several places there is a huge build-up of heaps of garbage, especially on weekends or when there is a public holiday. It would be desirable that the authorities collect the garbage every day, and probably even twice a day, while also making arrangement to collect the garbage on weekends and during long holidays.
