CBI on track

Acting swiftly on the High Court directive, the Central Bureau
of Investigation has registered a first information
report in the Kamaxi Forex Private Ltd case bringing a
ray of hope to the around 900 customers who were allegedly
cheated to the tune of Rs 55 crore.
CBI superintendent of police, V Ashok wrote to the Goa government
that the FIR has been registered and the case has been
taken over from the Goa police. Since the central probe agency
is asked by the high court to file a status report after every four
months, the investors, who were demanding fast-tracking of
the case, will heave a sigh of relief, now that the FIR is ready.
With almost a year lost since the investors got a rude shock
to find the Kamaxi office shut last February, the investors, who
had lost their confidence in the Economic Offences Cell of the
Goa Police are banking on the CBI to put up a water-tight case
and salvage their money. It’s just the start of a long drawn
battle. The stakes are high and entire State awaits with bated
breath. All hopes of the investors and the general Goan citizens
are now pinned on the CBI.
