It is heartening to see that minorities and especially Christians are again under attack in India.
Christians make up just 2 per cent of the population among the majority Hindus.
Although the current ruling party, the BJP talks about secularism and unity, the reality is that it is a party built on Hindutva ideology and allegedly believes that if Christians in India are not controlled they would convert all Hindus and Hindutva would lose its identity.
A number of Hindu groups are on rise to disturb the peace in the country and feel India should be free of Christians by 2021. If thoughts like these take shape, India will become another Pakistan or Syria and people will be divided on religious lines.
Politicians and parties should rise above each other and stem these divisions so that Indians do not fight in the name of religion.
It is time to unite and respect each other’s religion as we always do. Forget the trouble makers who divide us by taking money from the political parties. We should stop this nonsense and come together to fight for rights in India.
