Stray dog menace
The stray dog menace in Aldona keeps growing. For two decades now the Animal Activists and NGOs have followed the system of sterilising strays and releasing them back in the same place they were found. This method has not worked anywhere in the world. The activists are mostly inspired by their Western counterparts who have these stupid experiments for developing countries. In every developed country stray dogs are captured and put up for adoption. If nobody provides them a home they are killed, in a humane manner. Why can't we do the same here in Goa? Can Aldona show the way for the rest of India instead of just following the failed experiment?

Brave act
Seven students of a reputed school from Sancoale were reportedly injured after the bus in which they were travelling met with an accident at Upasnagar, Sancoale. It is understood a tipper truck collided with the school bus and even dragged the bus towards the other side of the four-lane highway. However had it not been for the alertness and presence of mind and exemplary courage of the bus attendant Manisha Kerkar from Headland Sada, many more students would have been hurt as they were in direct line where the truck collided with the bus. However the bus attendant reportedly managed to pull some students who were sitting near the windows where the truck crashed into the bus, on to the other side of the bus. This saved the students from very serious injuries as they were in direct line of the impact. In doing so she could have also saved the lives of the students. In the process of rescuing the students she herself sustained injuries to her right hand and her head. She had put her own life at risk when she could have easily moved away from the point of impact when she saw the truck heading straight to the bus resulting in the collision. For this act of bravery, exemplary courage and presence of mind it would be in the fitness of things for the Goa government to reward the bus attendant for rescuing the students. This will serve as an example for others to show courage and alertness in times of crisis. The school management should felicitate the brave lady and also recommend her name to the government in the state and at the center for a reward for her act of bravery.

Serious crimes
The news that the Calangute MLA Michael Lobo has forged documents to build his resort in Baga isn’t surprising. Our legislators have doing things like this for a long time, especially those along the coast. The former Calangute MLA was no saint also. There are illegalities with his resort, related to CRZ. Then in Porvorim, Parulekar was accused of changing plans to get land along the CHOGM road. This is a sad state of affairs when we allow our politicians to commit such crimes. There is a big chance that Lobo will get away with this just like others in the past when they have committed crimes or attempted to travel outside the country with wads of cash.
