Protective measures
The massive explosion that took place in a flat at Tonca-Caranzalem due to leakage of LPG from a stove connecting pipe which besides causing extensive damage to the flat also led to damage to several other flats in the building goes to prove the need to take all precautionary measures while using LPG stoves. Most of the cooking-gas related accidents occur due to leakages from rubber tubing, faulty fitting of regulator, poor handling of appliances and leaving the cooking unattended, resulting in vessel to overflow which in turn extinguishes the burner and causes a gas leakage. As it was reportedly a rat which caused a hole in the connecting pipeline which led to the gas leakage, it seems necessary to mandatorily have the rubber tubing connecting the cylinder to the stove enclosed in a pipe of steel casing. This will prevent any damage to the rubber tubing which is flexible. It would also be advisable to remove the regulator and cover the nozzle of the gas cylinder with cap provided with the cylinder when the occupants will be out of the house for several days.

Clean it up
Finally, we see a directive to check pollution in the Mandovi. The initiative by the GSPCB to check all residential and other establishments and buildings that are located on the banks of the river, will surely help to curb the needless pollution. There are many places where houses, establishments and complexes empty sewage into the river. This needs to be stopped. Garbage is also dumped in the river and perhaps this move might even stop that, especially in the villages where there is no scrutiny. The Mandovi river was a beautiful body of water once, but has now turned into a river of filth. The boats anchored on it let their sewage into the water, but that is nothing compared to the pollution that is emptied into the river from the storm drains and other outlets.

Injustice to teachers
If the aided school and private school assistant teachers can get a promotion directly as headmasters, why not the government assistant teachers? There are many government assistant teachers stuck on one post for the last 20 to 25 years without any promotions inspite having desired qualification and abilities to work as headmasters. If the same thing had to happen with aided/private assistant teachers, they would come on the street to get justice, but we have to shut our mouth just because we are government servants. If equal financial benefits are given to govt and private aided schools, then why are promotion rules not the same for all the assistant teachers?

On the eve of the CCP elections all three panels have released their manifestos which is nothing but like old wine in new bottle. If the parties could only adhere to their promises in the manifestos, Goa would have been like a paradise to live in. In order to have some accountability parties should be made to release their manifestos under oath before a judicial magistrate.
