In Ponda, we come across exposed transformers at different locations. The situation turns dangerous for innocent pedestrians, including school children proceeding along the concerned routes. As on Sunday, September 2, a transformer adjacent to Coelho Apartments in the vicinity of the old bus-stand was noticed in an exposed condition for the whole day. Linesmen deputed at this area failed to close the door of this transformer at the appropriate time. In order to assure safety to the public at large, it is absolutely necessary that doors of transformers are provided with suitable locks so that pedestrians do not come in contact with the electrical wires at any instance. I hope the higher officials at the electricity department in Ponda will take a note of this serious matter and initiate prompt positive steps to provide suitable locks for transformers situated at different locations.
