Goa put themselves in a strong position to push for victory against Himachal Pradesh in their Elite Group four-day Col CK Nayudu Trophy (under-23) match after reducing the visitors to 123 for six in their second innings on the third day. The match is being played at the GCA ground in Cotarlim-Sanguem.
Having secured an 88-run first-innings lead, Himachal were 123 for six at stumps, taking their overall lead to 211 runs. With only one day remaining, Goa will look to wrap up Himachal's innings early and chase the target.
Resuming their first innings at 153 for three, Goa were bowled out for 282 in 104.2 overs. Captain Aryan Narvekar and Dishank Misquin, who were unbeaten overnight, completed their half-centuries. Aryan scored 50 with eight boundaries, while Dishank made 78, hitting 10 fours and a six. The duo added 113 runs for the fourth wicket.
After Aryan's dismissal, Dishank and Chittem Jeevankumar (29) put together another valuable partnership of 62 runs for the fifth wicket. Goa were comfortably placed at 259 for four but lost their remaining six wickets for just 23 runs, missing out on a 300-plus total. For Himachal, Naunihal Attlas was the pick of the bowlers with six wickets for 68 runs, while Sushant Thakur claimed four for 51.
Goa's bowlers responded strongly in the second innings, with disciplined bowling and sharp fielding putting Himachal under pressure. Captain Aryan effected the run-out of the dangerous-looking Paras Parihar (33), while Afrid Rajakannawar dismissed Arjun Wadhwa (51) and Akshay Vashisht (3). Vinayak Kunte and Deep Kasvankar also picked up a wicket each.
Goa will aim to dismiss Himachal quickly on the final day to keep their hopes of victory alive.
