In the initial stages, dustbins were installed along the pavement near the church premises at Old Goa. However, for quite some time now, these dustbins have been missing from the concerned spots. Hence visitors, mainly tourists, remain helpless whenever they carry snacks or other eatables with them. There is every possibility of people throwing waste papers, plastic bottles, etc. in open areas in the absence of dustbins nearby. It is necessary that cleanliness is maintained at these strategic premises. The time has come for the concerned authorities to install alternate dustbins at the concerned spots so that the public at large do not litter and are not inconvenienced. This in turn would ultimately help in achieving the goal of ‘Swachcha Bharat Abhiyaan’. Of course, cleanliness happens to be a key for healthy living. Hence it is the need of the hour to maintain hygienic conditions on a permanent basis. Let us hope that the concerned authorities would initiate swift action in this important matter and install the missing dustbins at the earliest in public interest.
