This old heritage structure located behind the famous Maruti temple in Mapusa has always impressed me with its beautiful architecture and design. It is an old structure which has now started to crumble. This year's monsoon has brought down the top roofing which will further collapse if the owners of the building do not attend to its repair. However, if the owners are not around to look into its repairs, can't the Mapusa Municipal Council step in and help restore this heritage structure to its former glory? Mapusa has many such structures and it will be good if the MMC prepares a list of such structures. So far the Mapusa Muncipal Council is doing good a good job - they first restored the old St. Mary's School building which now houses the MMC and work on the old Asilo hospital is also looking very impressive. There are many such buildings in Mapusa and the MMC must encourage its owners to restore them under the archive and heritage schemes.
