India ‘mix’ and ‘super mix’ teams continued to dominate while China and Australia are also putting on impressive performance at the ongoing third Asia Cup Bridge Championship at Miramar.
On the third day of the event, India ‘A’ team under the captaincy of Anand Samant and comprising Rajiv Khandalval, Himani Khandalval, Gopanath Manna, Heena Deora, Abhijit Chakraborthy and Alka Kshirsagar, showed great team spirit to maintain their lead in Mix category after the 10th round with 129.22 points.
In the Super-mix category as well, India ‘B’ and ‘A’ teams put on a good show. India ‘B’ showed better understanding amongst the partners and gained 143.94 points, to move into first position after the 10th round. India ‘A’ collected 111.57 points.
In the Men’s event, India ‘B’ team moved from overnight sixth position to fifth place. They could have even settled into fourth place, but after the 10th round, lost their grip and slipped to fifth spot with 122. 68 points. The top three positions also saw changes with China Training achieving 140.23 points to climb up to the top. China were close behind in second place with 139. 85, while overnight leaders Australia fell down to third slot with 131.74 points.
In the Women’s category, Australia and China Taipei are locked in a close fight with both currently occupying the first and second place respectively after 10 rounds. In the Senior event, China (123.84 points) occupy the top place, while India - B with 118.76 points, are second. China Taipei have 114.56 points and are placed third.
