The attack on the Istanbul airport in Turkey is a stark reminder of the threat posed by terror groups. The attack by three suicide bombers, who first opened fire and then blew themselves up, killing 41 and injuring 239 people is something that Turkey needs to absorb while dealing with terror groups. Turkey has surreptitiously aided the IS in a bid to prevent consolidation of Kurds and has shown little or no interest in what is happening in Syria. It became a conduit for flow of IS fighters from Europe and provided the terror group with revenue by purchasing illegal oil. The group behind the attack has not yet been exposed, but the incident bares the fault lines. Every country that supported terror groups has eventually suffered under their hands and Pakistan is a glaring example of a terror programme that has gone horribly wrong. The only way to fight terrorism is by cooperation. All nations need to be on the same page and firmly committed to rid the world of terror outfits. Turkey needs to reassess its strategy or it will bleed.
