Suvendu Adhikari, CM of Bengal for all his talk bordering on bluff and bluster falls flat in his administrative ability. The incident of the stampede in the Chorbagan Durga Puja location on Oct 17 is a case in point where in a stampede some 19 persons died and many were injured. Mamata Banerjee for all her faults did not have a single incident of stampede during the Durga Puja in her entire tenure as Chief Minister. The Kolkata police under her handled the crowds during the Durga Puja celebrations with great efficiency and absolute professionalism since it is the premium festival of Bengal. While we see Adhikari in his first outing of the Durga Puja makes a complete mess of things bringing tragedy into the homes at a time of celebration. Nothing has actually changed in Kolkata, the student militancy, the extortion rackets and the goondagiri. What has changed is the colour from green to saffron. Everything otherwise remains the same.
