Gandhi Chowk junction needs urgent redesign

The junction at Gandhi Chowk in Mapusa urgently needs expert attention for redesigning to improve traffic flow. Currently, with the traffic signals in place, vehicles coming from Panaji towards Mapusa get barely a few seconds of green light, leaving little time for movement.

This creates a serious bottleneck, especially as pedestrian signals follow immediately. It is high time that experts consider constructing a flyover”possibly behind the Carvalho Petrol Pump”to allow uninterrupted movement for traffic heading towards Mapusa and the bus stand, while diverting Arpora, Calangute, and Siolim traffic over the flyover. Additionally, the growing congestion caused by vehicles heading to the market yard and the new bus stand is compounding the problem.

Will the Chief Minister seek assistance from the Central Ministry of Transport to send experienced planners to Goa to help resolve such persistent traffic bottlenecks, given that our PWD engineers seem to be running out of viable road planning solutions?
