What wouldyou require to set up your unit in Goa?
We need the government to give us 25 acres of land, near theriver. We need to have road access and electricity. If the state governmentdoes not want to give a subsidy it is not a problem.The central governmentgives us enough of subsidy. We plan to have 1,500 buffaloes that will producenearly 40,000 liters of milk per daybased on different modules.
Does Goahave the potential to become self-sufficient in milk?
Yes. The potential is immense and with each passing day it isincreasing. The dairy requirement is at its peak. But red tape is a nuisance.
What arethe milk sectors that Goa can develop?
Goa can develop a sweets market and a ghee project. I noticedthat Goa lacks food chains. This is due to the high cost of importing rawmaterial. We can develop a good market for cheese such as mozerella andcheddar. With this market developed we can see a number of fast food chainsentering the state.
How doesthe state stand to benefit?
The state becomes self-sufficient in milk. We will becontributing about 12.5 per cent as tax. As a dairy we need people from everysector. Employment opportunities will be created for 200 to 300 people. .
Youcomplained against the dairy unions inthe state? Why?
Yes dairy unions in Goa are ganging up against us. We arebeing targeted since the time we have entered the Goan market. Presently thequality of milk and its products on offer to Goans is of the cheapest quality.
What isyour market share in the state?
We are only rendering 10 per cent of the market share. Therest 90 per cent is from Maharashtra and local dairy industry in the state. Butthey are not delivering quality.
What areyour future plans?
Goans have responded well to our products. By the end of theyear we plan to have 20 outlets in the state. In addition we also plan toshowcase our products at the Dabolim airport.
