4th consecutive win for Goan, Indian restaurant in Australia

MELBOURNE

The Goan Indian restaurant ‘Spices 29’ has been awarded as the best Indian restaurant in regional New South Wales since 2023 by the Restaurant and Catering Association (RCA) awards for four years in a row.

For ‘Spices 29’, 2026 has been a great year for the restaurant mirroring the success of last year. The restaurant earned the international Prestige Award as the best Indian Restaurant and also got awarded by Australian Good Food Guide (AGFG) and Restaurant Guru for the same.

The business was also a proud finalist for Champion Awards and Business NSW awards in three different categories for this year.

The win at the RCA awards on September 28 added the much-needed feather to the cap.

As the Regional NSW State winners, the restaurant is now headed to the National Awards in high spirit. It’s worth noting that the restaurant has been a 3-time winner at the National Level since 2023 as well. Winning the National title this year will set a major milestone for the business, setting an outstanding precedent for it’s counterparts to come.

The consecutive wins for the business over the last few years have set Spices 29 from its competitors.

Established in 2018, Spices 29 Goan Indian Restaurant has become one of the most loved Indian Restaurants on the Central Coast. With its deep-rooted Goan connection, the restaurant, started by Nelson and Selma Fernandes, showcases an authentic Indian vibe.

With a strong belief in hard work, dedication and passion, Nelson encourages all youngsters and entrepreneurs from Goa across the world to never stop believing and be persistent towards their dream as dreams do come true.

“A business that started off as any other new business is today an established name not only in the local community but also at a national level,” said Nelson.

“The fundamentals of Spices 29 are flavour, quality and hospitality which not only laid the foundation of the business but also have been the key factors in its growth.”

“The restaurant features an Indian yet modern vibe and an authentic Indian menu featuring a variety of dishes, which when paired with the perfect beverages are sure to transport the guests to a world of flavour.”

“The team is now looking forward to the National Awards and for other great things to come in the future,” Nelson added.
