LONDON
After a gap of three years, the Colva Union UK will organise its 47th Anniversary celebration on October 22, to commemorate the Feast of Infant Jesus.
The event will begin with the Holy Mass to be celebrated by Fr Patrick D'Souza at Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church, 15 The Green Heston at 4 pm, followed by a social gathering at the Pope John Centre next door.
Music will be provided by the Goan band 'Treble Makers', while there will be an authentic Goan cuisine buffet and a fully licenced bar.
The dress code is formal (pink) and the mood setters will be Antonio Fernandes and Russell Rodrigues. Tickets are priced at £17.00 for Adults and £12.00 for children under 10 years.
Colva Union UK President Saby Fernandes said they are eagerly looking forward to the event, since the last event was organised three years ago and there was a gap due to the Covid pandemic.
When contacted, Antonio Fernandes, former president of Colva Union UK, said one of the tasks done by the Colva team in UK during the last few years was to train young and aspiring members to lead the Colva Union UK in a planned and professional manner with clear and audited accounting each year.
“We also trained them to keep up the ethos and dignity of Colva, especially since it is the first Goan club to be started in the UK by the East African immigrant Goans. They also have the Christ the King statue in Colva and part of their devotion to their roots in Goa,” Fernandes said.
