The Indian Council for Cultural Relations, Goa in collaboration with Ravindra Bhavan Baina - Vasco will be organising ‘Kirmeera Vadham-Lalitha and Panchali by Probal Gupta from Bengaluru and Kalamandalam Abin Babu from Kerala at Ravindra Bhavan Baina, Vasco on Saturday, March 9 at 6.30 pm.
Kalamandalam Abin babu is a post graduate in Kathakali and passed out from kalamandalam in 2011. He studied Kathakali under Kalamandalam balasubramanyam and Kalamandalam MPS Namboothiri.
He toured with me when I was invited to represent India by the Indian Embassy in Washington DC to commemorate 70 years of India’s independence. he had also accompanied me in several other performances including Indira Gandhai National Centre for the Arts, IGNCA SRC, Bangalore.
Prabal Gupta, a most sought after performer, choreographer and a research scholar, is a prominent name in the world of Kathakali. He is a disciple of legendary Kathakali exponent and research scholar Guru Sri Sadanam Balakrishnan. Prabal is a versatile Kathakali Dancer and can portray both Purusha Vesham and Stree Vesham with ease.
Initially trained under Kalamandalam Govindan Kutty and later under Guru Sri FACT Padmanabhan, Prabal continues to learn under Guru Sadanam Balakrishnan and specialize in the Keezhupadam style of Kathakali. Prabal is also recognized as an Outstanding artist by the Ministry of Culture, Government of India for Festivals of India, Abroad.
Prabal’s choreographic works have been presented in the most prestigious choreography festivals of India and abroad.
