The spirit of Goa came alive in Vancouver as the Goan Overseas Association (G.O.A) of Vancouver gathered for its annual G.O.A picnic and World Goa Day celebration.
It was a day filled with sunshine, laughter, music, delicious food and, most importantly, community. Families and friends across generations came together to celebrate the culture, traditions and warmth that make being Goan so special.
“World Goa Day is more than a celebration; it is an opportunity to honour our roots while passing our heritage on to the next generation. Seeing our community come together, from our seniors to our youngest members, was a wonderful reminder that wherever in the world we may live, Goa will always remain a part of who we are,” said GOA Vancouver President Anne Da Silva.
GOA Vancouver thanked Savio Menezes for coordinating and organising the picnic, while the support of volunteers and GOA Vancouver Executive Team helped make the day a success.
The association also expressed its appreciation to the food vendors, who brought the flavours of Goa to Vancouver with their traditional Goan food.
The GOA Vancouver committee also thanked every family and friend who joined and brought wonderful energy to the day.
“Events like these remind us that GOA Vancouver is not simply an association, it is a community connected by friendship, culture and a shared love for Goa,” added Anne Da Silva.
