Goan teams took part in the CalifornianGoans Soccer Tournament 2025 with enthusiasm and motivation, with the finals taking place at Rengstroff park in Mountain View, California, on September 21.
The tournament, which is hosted annually, began in July and featured four teams in a 6-a-side format with 2 substitutes.
The teams, Bay Strikers and Goan Portugal Boys, faced off in the finals, with a decent crowd cheering for both teams.
In a thrilling and hard-fought battle, the Bay Strikers emerged as champions after edging out last year’s winners, the Goan Portugal Boys, by a single goal. The decisive moment came when Velington scored the only and winning goal of the game, securing victory for his team.
After the match, players and supporters gathered to enjoy some freshly brewed coffee and hot Goan bhajis organised by Vanko, Gabriella, and Samaira.
