The Young Goans Club Bahrain celebrated the Feast of St Francis Xavier and the 72nd Annual Day at the Olive Hotel in Juffair on December 12 from 7 am till the wee hours of the next morning.
Leading local band ‘The Past Masters’ performed melodies that got everyone on the dance floor while DJ Joel filled in the gaps with his upbeat and recent chart hits.
The highlight of the evening was ‘The Goan Serenaders’, a group of singers and professional musicians on the keyboard and violins who entertained the crowd singing carols in English and Konkani.
During their performance, Santa made an appearance and distributed sweets to the children present. It was heart warming to the see the smiles on the faces of each child as they each received a gift bag.
Spot prizes were distributed throughout the evening with a special cake cutting ceremony for all birthday and wedding anniversary celebrants for the month of December. An array of delicacies consisting of snacks as well as meals including the traditional sorpotel was available.
Entry was free for members and all those with paid up subscription were included in a draw with three prizes up for grabs, the main one being a gold coin.
