LONDON
The Goan Association Ireland (GAI), a non-profit organisation dedicated to supporting Goans living in Ireland, hosted a Christmas party at Kilnamanagh Family Recreation Centre, Treepark Road Dublin on December 28, as part of its commitment to community building and cultural preservation.
Reflecting this inclusive spirit, the Christmas party was attended not only by Goans but also by Irish guests, Mangaloreans, and many others from the Konkan region.
THE EVENT
The event was action-packed, filled with music, laughter, and an overwhelming sense of togetherness. The dance floor remained vibrant throughout the evening as irresistible music kept the crowd swaying, dancing, and joyfully celebrating the spirit of Christmas.
One of the highlights of the evening was the musical entertainment. Alton enthralled the audience with his repertoire, seamlessly transitioning between English, Konkani, and Spanish songs. His versatility and engaging stage presence earned enthusiastic applause and repeated requests for encores.
Adding further energy to the night were DJ Canzio, DJ Danish, and DJ Queency, who travelled all the way from the UK to be part of the celebration. Their high-energy sets set the dance floor ablaze and kept spirits soaring.
The evening reached another high point with performances by the promising band ‘Black Horizon’, comprising Steve (male vocalist), Steffi (female vocalist), Jolston (lead guitar), Malaika (lead guitar), Caji (bass guitar), Marina (ukulele), Greg (violin), Josley (keyboard) and Joel (drums).
The band delivered powerful renditions that kept attendees dancing non-stop, creating moments of pure joy and celebration.
The event was hosted by anchors, Shenelle and Cajie, who kept the programme flowing seamlessly. Their lively banter, humour, and engaging interaction ensured there was never a dull moment. Games were organised for the entire audience, with prizes distributed generously, adding excitement and encouraging enthusiastic participation from all age groups.
A surprise awaited guests when Christmas Father himself made a special stop at the venue. Choosing to join the festivities, he brought smiles to young and old alike by distributing goodies and spreading festive cheer. Clearly enjoying the celebration as much as the guests, Christmas Father added a magical touch that perfectly captured the essence of the season.
No celebration is complete without good food, and Vanessa’s Kitchen served authentic Goan cuisine that transported many back to the flavours of home. From hearty soups and Chouriço Pão to delectable desserts such as Dodol, the food earned widespread appreciation from attendees.
The moments were captured through photographs and videos by Monica Mathias Photography, while The Dubs AV provided professional lighting and sound for the occasion. Red Door Events curated creative promotional material specifically for this celebration. Team Alpha provided security and housekeeping services, ensuring the smooth and safe conduct of the event.
The organisers credited the success of the Christmas party to the support of the attendees and the generous sponsors—Irish Homes, SDCC, Fiesta Events, SDC PPN, Community Garda Tallaght, Aldrin Rego, Spice Bazaar, and several anonymous well-wishers—without whom the event would not have been possible.
THE ASSOCIATION
This year’s Christmas celebration was organised under the leadership of Ajoy Fernandes, along with core members Milton Vaz, Aldrin Coutinho, Canzio De Mello, GAI ambassadors from various counties across Ireland, and other dedicated executive team members of the Goan Association Ireland.
The GAI ambassadors play a vital role in representing the organisation, actively participating in events and strengthening GAI’s presence throughout the Republic of Ireland.

“The GAI proved that it is more than just an organisation—it is a family that brings people together, celebrates Goan culture, and keeps the vibrant spirit of Goa alive in Ireland,” said GAI President Ajoy Fernandes.
“Over the years, the association has served as a vital support system for newcomers from Goa, assisting them in settling into Irish life by guiding them through essential documentation processes and offering a comforting sense of belonging far away from home.”
“In addition, GAI regularly organises Masses, celebrates important religious feasts, and hosts cultural and social events that help Goans remain connected to their roots.”
Beyond festive gatherings, Ajoy said the GAI has consistently contributed to the wider community.
“In the past, the association has arranged for priests and conducted Masses on various occasions, actively participated in the St Patrick’s Day Parade, been part of the Goa Day at Wicklow organised by Milla Hancock and her team, presented a Goan Tiatr in Dublin for the first time, organised visits to Knock Shrine, brought together budding young adults and groomed them into talented musicians, and formed community chat groups to assist Goans with everyday needs such as accommodation, carpooling, and prayer requests,” Ajoy added.
