The Indian Cultural Centre (ICC), an apex body registered with the Indian Embassy in Qatar, felicitated coordinators of dance troupes that participated in the Passage to India event held in March this year.
Among the group coordinators who were included in the roll of honour, were Martin Mascarenhas and John De Sa as they received the trophy and certificates on behalf of the Qatar Goans Dance Troupe.
The event was held over three days at the Museum of Islamic Arts and was streamed online via the social media channels of the apex bodies of the Indian Embassy in Qatar.
Over the last few months starting from October 2023, the Qatar Goans Dance Troupe performed Dekhni and Corridinho dance at various functions starting from the community functions hosted by the Our Lady of Rosary Church Qatar.
“Many thanks to the performers, the ladies and men for their sheer dedication to attend the practices in spite of their busy work schedules in addition to their family and children’s commitments,” said John de Sa.
Now, the plan is to expand to more forms of traditional Goan dance forms such as Fugdi, Dhalo, etc.
The group has called upon the Goans to join the practice sessions.
Goans in Qatar have been invited to join the Qatar Goans Dance Troupe and can contact John De Sa (Ph: 55605755) or Martin Mascarenhas (Ph: 66828980).
