What was meant to be four shows in the UK ended up with an extra show as audiences packed the halls for the Konkani Tiatr ‘Tuzo Godfather’ presented by UK Goan Events Ltd.
The Tiatr was staged in Swindon on Wednesday, followed by a show in Wembley on Friday and two shows were planned in Southall on Saturday.
Written and directed by Kala Academy’s multiple award winner Alexin de Morjim with Andre Teixiera as the Asst. Director, the Tiatr ‘Tuzo Godfather’ highlighted some of the issues that Goans face in Goa.
UK Goan Events Ltd had staged its first movie ‘Padrik Naum Na?’ by JP Production in the UK and given the favourable response, decided to stage its first Tiatr, ‘Tuzo Godfather’.
The cast consisted of Pradeep Naik who played lead role along with Alexin de Morjim and his wife Lorna, Comedian Ambe and Fr Bolmax Pereira acted for the first time in UK.
The supporting cast from the UK comprised Annie Quadros, Jennifer, Adrian, Jonathan, Agnelo Lobo, Cio de Ciridao, Ignatius de Xevlon, Mindroy, Nerissa, Chingu & others. The comedians were Luis, Ambe, Joanna, Costy and Alita, who came all the way from Ireland.
Music was provided by Maestro Armando, James Vaz, Aedan, Olavo and Ivan, while stage sets was coordinated by Comedian Agostinho. Sound was provided by Conny and lights by Gregg Carvalho.
When contacted, Fr Bolmax Pereira said the show at Swindon was a full house.
“The demand was so high that additional chairs were added to cope with the demand. Many Goans who normally don’t go for Tiatrs also attended the show. More so, because the message from the Tiatr had such an impact on the crowd and it took Swindon by storm,” said Fr Bolmax.
“Incidentally, many people tried to reach me before and after the show, as they were keen to understand the relation between what the show was about and things that is generally on social media and ground reality.”
“Goans at large in London are aware of the situation and many understood the message which the Tiatr ‘Tuzo Godfather’ was about and the ground realities in Goa. The feedback from the public was very positive.”
“The message conveyed by the Tiatr is something most Goans are aware of, but the Tiatr expressed it a very powerful way. Three shows had been planned in London, one in Wembley and three in Southall. The original plan was two shows in Southall, but due to very high demand, the organisers arranged a third show there.”
The UK Goans Events Ltd consists of Andre Texeira, Denzil, Magnu, Bonny and Valerian Vaz.
