While humans have dreamt of visiting planet Mars for many years, they have been unable to do that as yet. This film is a fictional take which captures humanity's first crewed mission to Mars in 2033 in a new TV special which debuts on National Geographic Channel on November 14, 9 pm.
Called "Mars," the six-part series, the crew of the Daedalus, led by American Mission Commander Ben Sawyer (played by Ben Cotton) lands on Mars and sets up a preliminary base. However during the final 90 seconds to landing, the crew endures some harrowing moments and must push itself to the brink in order to achieve success.
In addition to the fictional story, the series which is produced by Academy Award-winning filmmakers Ron Howard and Brian Grazer, weaves in interviews with a number of real-world space experts and thus illuminates how research and development is creating the space technology that will enable our first attempt at a mission to Mars.
