Anuruddh S. Gaur of the National Institute of Oceanography will deliver a talk on Marine Archaeology in India on November 27, 11am at Museum of Goa, Pilerne.
The Indus civilization traded with Mesopotamia on the Persian Gulf for over 500 years. The Romans established several colonies along the Indian coast. The Arabs and later European powers dominated trade routes to nations along the Indian Ocean. Over time, several ports along the Indian coast have been submerged. The Marine Archaeology Centre of NIO has investigated numerous sites - uncovering the region's rich maritime history. Gaur will be discussing these important excavations and their intriguing results at the talk.
