CANACONA
As many as 242 people benefitted from a free eye check-up camp organised by the Lions Club of Canacona at Agonda on Friday.The people were screened for free, and spectacles worth over Rs 3000 were provided at a nominal payment of Rs 160 during the camp at the Agonda Sports Club Hall.The Lions Club, in coordination with social worker and businessman Suraj Naik Gaunkar and a team of doctors and ophthalmic staff from the Matoshree Arogya Seva Trust (MAST), Mumbai, conducted the camp.Earlier, the camp was inaugurated by Agonda Dy Sarpanch Karuna Phaldesai in the presence of former Agonda Sarpanch and sitting Panch Fatima Rodrigues, Agonda Sports Club President Raju Faldessai and others. Suraj Naikgaunkar and Lions Club President Pankaj Naik Gaunkar also spoke on the occasion. Lions Club Secretary Ulhas Phaldesai later proposed the vote of thanks.
