Stating that the partition of India in 1947 had destroyed millions of lives, Speaker Ramesh Tawadkar said the event, however, taught the citizens of India the lesson of unity. Tawadkar was speaking after inaugurating an Exhibition on ‘Remembrance Day of Partition Horrors’ at the Kadamba bus stand in Chaudi-Canacona on Thursday. The exhibition was inaugurated by Tawadkar in the presence of Zilla Panchayat Member Suresh Fatarpekar, BJP State General Secretary Sarvanand Bhagat, and South Goa BJP Mandal President Prabhakar Gaonkar, along with others. Tawadkar said, “To ensure such events never happen again, we must preserve unity, harmony, and brotherhood. This will be the true tribute to the victims of partition.” The event was concluded after paying floral tributes to the martyrs and a pledge to uphold national unity.
