Hundreds of women from Mormugao constituency gathered at Sada in Vasco on Sunday evening to celebrate International Women’s Day, organised by Mormugao MLA Sankalp Amonkar in association with Murgao Mahila Morcha. BJP Goa State President Damodar Naik was the chief guest, while Sports Minister Ramesh Tawadkar was guest of honour. Several women from various fields were felicitated in recognition of their contribution to society and their inspiring work in their respective areas. Addressing the gathering, Naik said women have been excelling in every sphere, from administration and education to entrepreneurship and public life. He added that the increasing participation of women in different sectors has strengthened the country’s development and social progress. Tawadkar said women have made remarkable strides in social, political and economic spheres, and their contribution remains vital for the country’s continued growth and development. Amonkar said the programme was organised to recognise the contribution of women in society and to create a platform where their achievements could be celebrated.
