Additional South Goa Sessions Judge Ram Prabhudesai on Tuesday sentenced accused Sandhya Chavan to undergo rigorous life imprisonment for committing the murder of her husband in June 2019 at Vasco. The accused has been further directed by the Court to pay a fine of Rs 50,000.The Court had convicted the accused woman Sandhya Chavan under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code. Kaushalendra Pratap Singh (33) was murdered at Varnapuri in Vasco on June 3, 2019.
Originally hailing from Uttar Pradesh Singh was working in the Navy. The Vasco police had arrested his wife Sandhya Chavan in the murder case. The duo used to constantly fight and did not get along with each other. On the day of the murder, the deceased had an argument with Sandhya and she had attacked him on the head with a baton. Singh died from the head injury he sustained. The couple had come to Goa two years before the murder.
