VASCO: The Chicalim Panchayat on Friday organised a Mhaje Ghar awareness camp to educate residents about the State government’s flagship housing scheme and address applicants’ queries. The programme was attended by Panchayat Minister Mauvin Godinho, Chicalim Sarpanch Kamla Prasad Yadav, Deputy Collector Pratap Rao Gaonkar, Communidade representatives and government officials.
Several applicants received Communidade consent letters and legalisation-related documents, while dedicated counters accepted fresh applications and scrutinised pending ones.
Godinho thanked the Communidade for supporting the initiative and said cooperation between Panchayats, Communidade bodies and government departments was ensuring the smooth implementation of the scheme. He described Mhaje Ghar as an important initiative to help families legalise their homes and resolve long-pending ownership and documentation issues.
Gaonkar said most applications from Chicalim and nearby areas involve properties on Communidade land. Officials explained the application process, required documents and necessary clearances, while scrutinising submissions and informing applicants about missing documents.
He said such awareness camps simplify procedures, reduce confusion and speed up application processing. The camp received a good response, with many residents seeking clarification on eligibility, documentation and the legalisation process. Officials expressed confidence that continued coordination would help more eligible families benefit from the scheme.
