PANAJI: Goa will observe World Rabies Day 2026 with a five-day statewide One Health Rabies Awareness Campaign from September 28 to October 3. Organised by Mission Rabies–Worldwide Veterinary Service (WVS) Goa Foundation in collaboration with the Department of Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Services, Department of Health, Goa Animal Federation and Rotary Clubs of Miramar and Panaji Riviera, the campaign was inaugurated at 9 am on September 28 at the Goa Science Centre, Miramar.
The campaign will feature free door-to-door dog vaccination and sterilisation drives, a children’s rally, Rabies Doggie Float, Digital Awareness Vehicle and a One Health Awareness Workshop. Awareness sessions will focus on rabies prevention, animal welfare and public health. The 2026 theme, “Stronger Together”, highlights coordinated action among veterinary, health, education and animal welfare sectors. The initiative will also highlight Goa’s rabies-control experience and plans for a proposed veterinary centre supported by five acres of land provided by the state government.
