CANACONA: The sacred Relic of St Francis Xavier will be exposed at St Francis Xavier Church, Bhatpal, on August 3. The service will begin with the Rosary of St Francis Xavier at 3 pm, followed by an hour of Blessed Sacrament Adoration with inner healing at 3.30 pm. Confessions will be held simultaneously, followed by Holy Mass at 5 pm.
As the first Sunday of August is dedicated to the Clergy, a short talk on the life of St Francis Xavier as a pastor will be delivered. Devotees will also share their testimonies during the service. The programme will include the blessing of salt, incense and Holy Water. At the end of the Mass, the sacred Relic of St Francis Xavier will be blessed.
Fr Derick Fernandes, the new parish priest of St Francis Xavier Church, Bhatpal, said the parish has been privileged to possess a Relic of the saint. “Earlier, the Relic would be brought out during the Novenas and kept until the Feast Day of St Francis Xavier on December 3. It attracted people from different communities and faiths, who came with deep devotion to our Goencho Saib. Now, the sacred Relic of St Francis Xavier is exposed every month,” said Fr Fernandes.
