SIOLIM: The Village Panchayat Child Committee and Village Panchayat of Siolim-Marna felicitated SSCE and HSSCE toppers and sportspersons for their achievements. The achievers were presented with mementoes and cash prizes of Rs 1,000 each. Students of Keerti Vidyalaya, St Francis Xavier’s High School and tiny tots of St Francis de Sales presented patriotic songs. Students of St Francis Xavier’s High School also staged a skit on solid waste management and were presented with dustbins by the panchayat.
The Tricolour was hoisted by Deputy Sarpanch Sandesh Hadfadkar, who, in his welcome address, spoke about the importance of Independence Day and stressed the need for hard work and discipline. He urged students to help keep their surroundings clean and green and contribute towards making Siolim a clean and green village. The programme was compered by Chairperson Gregory D’Souza.
